Stress

Stress is often defined as a feeling of pressure and anxiety. It may include a feeling of being overwhelmed, irritable, nervous or angry. Sometimes stress has physical symptoms associated with it: increased blood pressure, headache, skin rash, insomnia, etc. Stress has been found to play a role in diseases such as asthma, diabetes, cancer and heart attacks. Modern life is full of stressors or potential stressors. The more proactive a person is in maintaining physical and mental activities that decrease stress the more resilient they are in dealing with stress. Small amounts of stress are beneficial to performance and motivation but most of us have difficulty maintaining just small levels of stress.
